Combination Like - Facebook App with Ruby on Rails

I wanted to make a Rails app and had the idea to make something with the new Timeline actions that Facebook added recently. Now you can like things with the Graph Api. The idea was that you can like combinations of things, for example if you like something more than another thing, or if you like to eat something with another thing… I am not shure if the world has waited for this feature, but it was a good motivation at least…￿ ￿ What I realized in the end was that I needed the most time for the deployment and the setup of my server, even if it is really easy if you know how to do it. To remind me of it I will write it down for everyone…￿ ￿ The tools I used on both the server and my local machine (OSX Lion):￿

￿ ￿ While there are many good guides how to setup rvm, passenger and to use capistrano, for me there where some things to watch out for..￿ ￿
    ￿
  • To use rvm with Capistrano, the best way is to use the rvm-capistrano gem
  • ￿
  • Important; use rvm in a version >= 1.11.3, therefore update rvm to HEAD
  • ￿
  • Use the gem ‘therubyracer’ for the asset pipeline
  • ￿
  • Uncomment “load ‘deploy/assets’” in your Capfile
  • ￿
￿ ￿ Then in your deploy.rb file, you have to make some adjustments to use the rvm on your Server:￿ ￿ set :rvmtype, :system #or :user￿ sshoptions[:forward_agent] = true #forwards your local ssh key￿
